This was a really fun video to make.  I’ve been moving more and more towards just vlog-style videos, leaving the motivational stuff off the script.  And this one is the result of that movement.  I think I can still be inspirational, only perhaps do it better by just showing instead of telling.

I want to get back to the majesty that is travel and places.  That is adventure.  And even though I’ve been staying in one very cold place for my family, I’m still managing all of that.  But first, some background …

I grew up in Alexandria Virginia, which is right across the Potomac River from Washington DC.  So I know Virginia weather.  We rarely get a spring of fall, just a week and then … pow!  And then there’s always this tease.  Summer, week of autumn, instant cold, followed by an Indian summer that is glorious.  Then mother nature flips her switch and no more nice nice.  The trees are mostly deciduous and therefore barren and dead looking.  The skies in the winter are always a uniform light gray.  It’s depressing in a not-so-subtle way.

This is why I moved to Miami, Florida back in 2014.  Eternal sunshine.  You see, I’ve always picked summer as my season of choice.  Heat just doesn’t faze me much, and I actually would rather be sweating rather than shivering.

OK, back to today.  We’re 90-some percent sure we want to stay in The Huckleberry, so perhaps some window upgrades are in order.  LOL!  Or we stay south of the frost line.  Or we even become snowbirds and part from our bus for a few months every year.  All are possibilities and the best part of nomadic life is that you always have choices.  So … cold be damned.

Question for ya … do you like the new direction of the videos?  Less motivation and more real life?  Was the cooking segment interesting?  Please drop a comment or an email to rick@rickhiggins.com.  I truly want to make sure the direction of the channel is hitting the right buttons.
