Howdy-ho and welcome from the glass-enclosed nerve center of the Mastering The Second Half News Center. I’m your host, Barry Newsome. (Get it? News-some? From the News-Room? No? Really? Shoot!, sorry).
OK, all bad puns aside, it’s me … Rick Higgins … with your weekly update of all things a’happening this week and last. It’s been a tad underwhelming because of Hurricane Ida. Not that it hit here, but Nikki and I are the volunteer types and it took a little of our couples time to get her up into the blast zone to help out.
So let’s start there, shall we. A dear friend of ours runs an international aid organization called Third Wave Volunteers. Give them a look and see how you can help. I’ve been on many a mission with them and believe me, they’re the real deal. Remind me to tell you about the Big Cat Center where we repaired fences after Hurricane Michael. Ever had a panther stalk you while you’re trying to clear debris from a fence line? It’s an interesting feeling being the hunted and not the hunter.

To the week that was! I did a shorts video called ‘Can’t Stop Checking YOUTUBE STUDIO!‘ which was fun to make. Even got to bring the camera into the shower. (Sorry for that visual). https://youtu.be/t-QZrqCunfA
As far as words … the blog grew by a whopping two entries … like I said, I was busy! 🙂
“All Great Truths Begin as Blasphemies” – George Bernard Shaw. The story is basically about dogma, why we follow it so, and what we can do to not let it dictate our lives.
A CREATORS JOURNEY WITH RICK HIGGINS, which describes the second YouTube channel I started. The basic intent there is that I’m a new YouTuber, struggling with growth, so why not document the journey. The main channel is the subject of the second channel!
And then the videos, of which there was but one. So I guess I should have said ‘video’ (singular). It’s called The TRUTH about COUPLES TRAVEL and came out pretty well. Actually, the making of that video is the basis of another video I’m creating later today. You see, I had some issues making it. Big ones. But I think it turned out well in the end. It’s all about advice for how two people can travel better … and not wind up in divorce court. (At least, not from being packed into tiny hotel rooms for months on end).

And that’s about it campers. Nikki is still away this week, so hopefully I can get some creative stuff out the door. There’s going to be that video I just told you about … “DO NOT MAKE a YouTube Video THIS WAY!“. But the next one on the main channel is going to be all about Remote Workers vs Digital Nomads, which should be a fun topic to dig into. (He says hopefully).
As always, be healthy, be happy, and we’ll see you soon!
