Mérida

La Negrita Cantina

This is a great “night blub” slash restaurant.  The food is excellent, as is the live music.  It does get crowded, so it pays to get there early.

Dzalbay Cantina
Calle 64 x 53,Esquina, No.443, Centro, 97000 Mérida, Yuc., Mexico
A great jazz bar.  The food is … frankly, kinda meh.  But the vibe and the music is superb!  This is a much-return-to for us.

Casa Cuba – La Bodeguita del Centro
C. 62 entre 51 y 53 #443, Parque Santa Lucia, Centro, 97000 Mérida, Yuc., Mexico
Incredible Cuban food and music.  And drinks!  They have a huge buffet on Sundays with live music.

Progreso

La Parrilla DEL TIO XIX
C. 27 Supermanzana × 50 2s, Ismael García, 97320 Progreso, Yuc., Mexico
Incredible food and people!  It’s quite a ways away from Centro, but it’s worth the distance.  We ate breakfast here every day, and we will go back.

Eladio’s Bar Progreso
Calle 80 & 19 Colonia Centro, Centro, 97320 Progreso, Yuc., Mexico
Fun beach-side restaurant that gives you plenty of free appetizers with each drink.  To be honest, the food is only so-so, but the vibe is fun and the location is perfect.

Holbox

Kin Camping
Calle Boquinete entre porfirio diaz, Av. San Jerónimo y, 77310 Holbox, Q.R., Mexico
Fun little hostel, well outside of the main area.  Easy walk though, and the owners and people are great!

Honestly, there isn’t much else to add that isn’t in the video.  Especially about the heat.  I think I showed that well enough.  LOL!  But as far as the entire area, it’s quickly become tied for second as my favorite place in the world.  (Spain is it’s co-silver medal sidekick).

The pace of life, the people, everything about the Yucatán screams welcome.  And the food is incredible.

Would I come back?  Oh, absolutely!  Actually, our doctor’s are here.  (Don’t get me started on the US Medical System).  So we kinda have to.  But truthfully, there are few other places that I’d rather be.
