We had a little drama last night. Maybe a mile away, just over the Mexican border, there was a huge blaze. Smoke billowing up in the air. I had no idea if it was a building or a brush fire (there really isn’t much out there building-wise, I don’t think). So I kept checking on it periodically, seeing if it was moving.
When …
I noticed this weird white trail in the sky to the west. Turns out it’s a rocket moving slowly across (I’m 99% sure this was a Starlink … here let me check (checking) … yep, at 5:59 they launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California).
I probably should have selected video, this doesn’t quite sell it, now does it. LOL!
It was moving oh so slowly, and not a sound. I guess it was just too far away. But it was pretty cool to watch for the 20 seconds I had. I had just missed the closer portion of the thing while looking westward at the fire …
Speaking of which … it took hours for it to be put out. As night fell, it kept getting brighter, but no closer. So whatever was a’blaze, it was stationary I suppose. I’m pretty sure it was just over the border. Later on in the week I’ll hike down there and see if I can report anything back to ya.
It’s going to be an interesting week, by the way. I just dropped Nikki off at the airport yesterday for some family time, and I’m all alone here with a camera and no adult supervision.
So this is going to end in one of two ways. LOL!
