So yesterday I was wandering around the neighborhood when suddenly my legs craved a sit and a beer. And when your legs demand that, well … you listen. LOL!

Our current barrio is basically an urban section of Madrid where you only get small markets, small cafeterias, and lots of apartments. It’s where working people live, not where tourists gather. So you eat and drink like a local here.

The next video is going to explore a lot of this, but at least for the next day and a half, this is us. And yea, it’s kinda nice. Relaxing. No real pressures, just sitting in an outdoor cafe on a Sunday afternoon. There are so many worse places to be, right?

A lot of the neighborhood “bars” here have an outside TV for folks like me out at a table on the sidewalk. Nice touch and quite crowded when a game is on. (Apparently yesterday’s game was not worthy, it was kinda quiet).

And (at least in a lot of places) they will give you a small nibble with each drink. Chips and sausage slices were the reward for my third beer. LOL!

I can’t say that I would want to stay here in this area longer, nor would I want to live here permanently … but the simple act of slowing down, sipping at a sidewalk cafe (of which there are plenty!), and not feeling the pressure to run and do something constantly is nice.

We still don’t have a place to live for our three months here, and we just (as in seconds ago) discovered we’ve been looking in the wrong places for short term rentals. And we dont yet know where we should be looking. So maybe I need another drink to calm down my anxiety.

More tomorrow …
