Hey there, Rick Higgins here with your first Patreon-only update! (Which is quite weird considering I don’t have any patrons yet. But hey, hope springs eternal, right? LOL!)
Let’s se, what shall I tell you that non-patrons don’t know yet? Well, believe it or not, we’ve got Pivot II planning in the works. Yea, really. For those who are as un-yet caffeinated and don’t remember, The Pivot is where I quit my job on December 1st of this year and wander the world. Become a full-time content creator with zero income. Woot!
The Pivot II is something Nikki has been obsessing over for some time. Think van-life in a bigger van. As in, an airport shuttle-sized thing. There are no real specifics yet, we’re just watching a lot of YouTube. I think the idea is to come back to the states after a year or so, build out (and/or buy) a tiny home on wheels, and then wander North and South America. Maybe. Like I said, it’s a work in progress, but it’s always fun to think of future cool things.
I know, I know, you just asked why … if I’m becoming a travel channel … would I switch to a van-life channel? Well, because I’m not becoming a travel channel. I am, and always have been, a Life After A Certain Age channel. I’m living whatever dream is in my head. Experiencing cultures, stories, people, and places. The ‘how’ isn’t as important as the ‘now’. After Pivot II will surely come a III, IV, and more. Maybe they’ll become combinations. But the point is that I want to experience life to the fullest … and I also want to be a living example. So, semi-van-life will fit right in.
Anyway, that’s for 2023. Stay tuned. 🙂

Last Sunday I created a YouTube short called Barcelona’s 2000 YEAR OLD WALLS. It was about … well, you know,. I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate shorts into the channel, and frankly I still have no idea. So … suggestions welcome.

MONDAY AUGUST 23rd
Monday saw a blog post come out of me. Titled Why I Keep Re-Reading Chesapeake, it was a little thought-dump on this book I keep re-reading every few years. But bear in mind that something different has happened since I wrote that post. I stopped reading it in the middle this time. Not just because the Kindle needs a recharge, but for some reason I just can’t handle it in this, the year of covid. You’ll understand when you read the blog post.

THURSDAY AUGUST 26th
And finally, the last creative offering this week was a very short video called It’s NOT FEAR That’s HOLDING YOU BACK, and I was surprised at the response. It’s a three minute video discussing the difference between being humble and being self-depreciating, and I was a little shocked to see folks really liked it. To me, it was almost like filler. Sure, I wanted to make the video, the topic is kinda important to me. But I didn’t put a lot of energy into it. So, tell me what you think!
