Yes, we’re going to try “Bus Life”! As in taking a retired vehicle that once hauled screaming kids to school and turn it into a custom (but better!) RV-like thing which we’re going to call “home”.

And yes we’re going to film the entire process. 🙂

But let’s say you just want a few details to help in your own project … do you really want to watch all of the videos?

PROJECT PLAN

✓ Bus Prep (A Working Shell)

✓ Rough Out (Starting To Look Right)

✓ Install back up camera and wire
✓ Build out bed platform (plus garage)
✓ Install fresh water tank & water pump/accumulator and run water lines to shower area, water heater, and kitchen. Install fill/city water/vent on passenger side of bus.
✓ Install water heater
✓ Install Bluetti and run 120/12v wiring everywhere, including external power hookup and 12v/engine recharge. Plus switches and controls (don’t forget toilet and propane).
✓ Install Starlink
✓ Insulate and install ceiling
✓ Install locking mechanisms

✓ More Utilities (Tradesmen Are Done)

✓ Frame out closet/pantry and toilet areas
✓ Install gray water tank and connect to kitchen/bath.
✓ Run propane lines to water heater and kitchen.
✓ Mount propane and lines inside outdoor cabinet
✓ Install toilet and run diverter to gray water tank

Comfort (HVAC)

Install mini-split
Install diesel heater

Fine Trim (Bedroom+ Is Done)

Install flooring
✓ Insulate walls and install paneling/wall covering, trim
✓ Install switches and outlets (plus lighting)
✓ Install speakers
✓ Build out bedroom area including closet and shelving, hallway, trim
Complete shower install in stairwell, including curtains, drainage, and flooring

✓ Kitchen

✓ Mount furniture/cabinetry, install sink and plumbing
✓ Install fridge

Origami/Grow Area and Cockpit

Build front multi-use area, flip top, storage, and seats.
Build shoe rack area
✓ Build over driver storage

Final

Build additional outdoor storage cabinets
Install solar panels and run wiring

COMPLETE PLUMBING INSTALL

These are all of the parts I used in the plumbing install. You will need to judge your own quantities based on how many L’s and T’s you need. I would highly recommend drawing out your plan, including anytime the piping needs to take a bend to get to where you want it to be.
